A FABULOUS week-end

OK, a few minutes to catch up on the happenings from the week-end...

We went up to Columbia, South Carolina to visit friends and see their new house. Then we all went to the Three Rivers Music Festival together. The concert was in downtown Columbia on both sides of the Congaree River. They closed several streets, set up four stages, sold beer & food... you get the idea. We had a BLAST!

First up was George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic. If you don't know, this is a group of about 20 folks who sing, dance, and otherwise groove their hearts out. George Clinton is the KING OF INTERGALACTIC FUNK. No doubt about it. They were terrific! George had the whole place jumpin'...literally! Folks were boogie-ing all over the place. There were thousands of people there. After a rainy afternoon we were a little worried about getting drenched during the concert (in fact, three of our group bagged the concert merely on the possibility of rain - wusses!). But Mother Nature cooperated, and we had a lovely warm night with a slight breeze. All the better to boogie with P. Funkadelic! WOO HOO! It really was a cool concert. He even sang Atomic Dog! Bow wow wow yippee-yo yippee-yea, Bow wow wow yippee-yo yippee-yea!

After George, next up on stage was ARETHA FRANKLIN! She still is the Queen of Soul, that's for sure. She is a BIG Queen of Soul though. She must be 400 pounds, I swear! But she can still belt out a tune, though she is 64 now. She sang everything I EVER loved from her repertoire - started out with R-E-S-P-E-C-T, then Chain of Fools, Think, Ridin' on the Freeway...who can even remember them all? She sang for almost 2 hours! And who knew that she can play the piano like a concert pianist? Not me! She was amazing. We got home around 1:00 a.m., exhausted but happy.

We spent Sunday seeing more friends . Had lunch with some of them, and talked for a couple of hours. After lunch we headed to Norm & LuAnns' and played sand volleyball for three hours. I am SO sore! OUCH! I haven't played in more than 4 years, and my muscles are talking to me lots this morning. Went for a quick dinner to Moe's, then headed back to Kiawah. Arrived home around 11:30 p.m. to a screaming kitty, who was very vocal about our absence. He was a happy kitty when he saw us.

All in all a terrific week-end - lots of great music, sports, and better friends. Too cool.

No time

to start blogging, yet I am curiously interested. I'll be thinking about this in the near future, just to see what I would like to post that is viewable to the entire world. Hmmmm... not sure about that!

Meanwhile, my other meanderings on the Internet can be viewed by visiting my web sites. www.KiawahTurtles.com, www.MyScribeOnline.com, www.WelcomeToKiawah.com are just a few!
